BBC micro:bit Extends Global Reach

New distribution deal with Premier Farnell will see Kitronik’s entire BBC micro:bit product range distributed globally.
Since its launch in 2016 the BBC micro:bit has grown in popularity and has sparked the interest of millions of future electronics engineers across the globe.
Resulting from this rise in popularity, Kitronik, one of the original partner organisations involved in the BBC’s Make it Digital Campaign which launched the micro:bit in 2016, has announced the signing of a global distribution agreement with leading electronics distributor Premier Farnell.
The new agreement means that Kitronik’s entire micro:bit product range, along with the micro:bit, is now available globally through Premier Farnell.
Kitronik will also have a ‘Learning Portal’ on Premier Farnell’s website. This will feature content from Kitronik, such as its learning resources and videos, which will support teachers, students and makers in realising the full potential of the micro:bit project kits.
The Nottingham based electronics company, which specialises in creating innovative project kits and learning resources for schools and the maker community, has been at the forefront of developing these resources for the past three years to ensure that the potential of the micro:bit to raise access to electronics in a fun and meaningful way is realised. Their success means that Kitronik’s products are popular with education providers and makers in Europe, the Middle East and North America, where they are used to support the teaching of electronics.
Since the launch of the micro:bit in 2016, Kitronik has partnered with the BBC and micro:bit educational foundation to develop an innovative range of products and has become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of micro:bit accessories.
