Land Agent Tim gets grounded in new role

An Assistant Land Agent appointed earlier this year is looking forward to putting his eclectic skillset and wealth of experience to use with Leicestershire property experts Mather Jamie.

Tim Jones, 51, originally from Kent, has recently joined the Loughborough-based chartered surveyors. Tim has a solid grounding in agriculture, land management and development: as a young man he held various farm roles, an experience he credits for his work ethic. He studied Geography and travelled the world for five years before returning to train as a teacher at the University of Exeter. Following a secondary school teaching career Tim went into development, working first as Site Supervisor and then promoted to Project Manager for a development and construction firm.

A role with a precision farming firm took Tim back into the agricultural sector. He undertook a Masters in Rural Estate & Land Management with Harper Adams, graduating with Merit in 2018. Tim was then taken on by Mather Jamie, where his role currently encompasses residential and agricultural property management, and small to medium scale planning and development work to include all aspects of agency.

Tim said:

“Having done virtually every job in farming from tree surgeon to shepherd, I’m keen to carve out a niche and develop my career in estate and land management. Mather Jamie is a fantastic place to work, given their expertise in estates, farms and land, and residential/commercial development, and I’m really looking forward to building on my experience here.”

Rob Cole, Director at Mather Jamie, said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Tim to the estates, farms and land team. We’re sure that his huge raft of experience and versatile background will be of great benefit in his role as Assistant Land Agent, and it’s on the agenda for Tim to become chartered within the next two years.”
