Burton Small Business has unveiled plans for its annual conference as they go back to school to support small businesses to grow and succeed.

The Business Growth Conference, run by not-for-profit organisation Burton Small Business and sponsored by the Federation of Small Businesses, will be at Repton School’s 400 Hall on the morning of Tuesday 22nd October.

The event, now in its fourth year and attracting a growing following, is designed to help local businesses access support and advice.

The half-day event includes inspirational talks from eight speakers, all experts in their fields, on topics from how to boost sales through to alternative marketing and funding strategies that will make your company stand out from the crowd. There will also be guidance from successful business owners sharing their tips and advice.

Cheryl Morris, of Creative Word PR, one of the three business owners behind Burton Small Business, which also includes Elaine Pritchard of Caittom Publishing and Tilley Bancroft of Red Door Studios, said it was an opportunity for business owners to gain valuable tools to grow their business and also network with new connections and share ideas.

She said: “Each year we look to create a conference that will inspire businesses to gain the knowledge and support they need to grow. The conference is about companies coming together to help one another and I am really excited about this year’s line-up of speakers.

“We have some really interesting topics to help businesses think about ways they can improve and grow their own business as well as insights from inspiring entrepreneurs who will be sharing their tips for success.”

The event is designed to provide everything a business owner would need at any stage in their development to help them get the guidance, motivation and right contacts to help them reach their goals.

In addition to the networking and speaker opportunities there will also be a variety of information stalls which businesses can explore to find out about anything from networking to finance, exporting and growth plans.

In keeping with the ethos of supporting local business, all services on the day will be supplied by small, independent firms including Burton caterer Helen Wheat of Helen’s Bakehouse and Tearooms, in Burton Market Place, who will provide this year’s buffet lunch to close the event.

Additional support is also being provided by Owen Conti, of IT support specialists Code 56, Karen Woolley of the Staffordshire and West Midlands branch of the Federation of Small Businesses and Mike Byrne of business support service Blue Orchid.

Tickets are now available for £20, plus online booking fee, for those taking advantage of the early bird offer. Speakers are set to be announced in the coming weeks.
