LUCION SERVICES NAMES MESOTHELIOMA UK AS CHARITY OF THE YEAR

Company will support asbestos-related cancer charity with fundraising and through corporate activities.

Lucion Services has named Mesothelioma UK, the national asbestos-related cancer charity, as its new charity of the year.

Lucion Services is a leading provider of risk management and consultancy services. The company employs over 330 staff across the UK and will encourage its workforce to dedicate all of their fundraising efforts this year to supporting Mesothelioma UK.

All funds raised will go towards helping Mesothelioma UK to address equalitable access to care for mesothelioma patients and their families by providing specialist nurses, funding vital research into mesothelioma treatment and patient experiences, and promoting clinical trials and assisting patients financially to access them.

Lucion Services will also offer access to resources at its 12 locations across the UK including facilities, training providers and materials to help Mesothelioma UK to raise the profile of the disease and the dangers of exposure to asbestos across the UK risk management sector.

The UK has the highest incidence of mesothelioma in the world, with more than 2,700 people diagnosed each year and sadly this number continues to rise. There is currently no known cure for the disease and prognosis is poor, with only around half of patients living past one year after diagnosis.

Lucy Hughes, Communications Director at Lucion Services said:

“Lucion are delighted to team up with Mesothelioma UK this year; we will be donating our time, resources and money to supporting this extremely important cause. Mesothelioma is a cause very close to our hearts here at Lucion, as our team are all too aware of the damage that asbestos can do. Giving back to our community is a big part of the culture at Lucion so I know we will have great success in our partnership.”

Liz Darlison, Head of Services at Mesothelioma UK added:

“We’re delighted to have been named as Lucion Services’ Charity of the Year. As well as being the lucky recipient of their magnificent fundraising efforts, we’ll be working with the company to boost our visibility within the UK risk management sector, alert people to the dangers of asbestos exposure, and make them aware of the pathways to treatment and care.”
