RUSSELLS RAISES THE GAME FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPICE

Burton-based roof tile manufacturer, Russell Roof Tiles has donated more than £1,000 to local children’s charity, Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Russell Roof Tiles, which has two sites on Nicholson Way and Wetmore Lane in Burton, raised this money, from its participation in the Burton Albion Corporate Five-a-Side Tournament held at the Pirelli Stadium.

A cheque was presented by Ross Hayward, Area Sales Manager at Russell Roof Tiles, last week to Acorn’s Business and Community Fundraiser, Taz Baines at the charity’s hospice in Birmingham.

Acorns has three specialist hospices in Birmingham, Walsall and Worcester and provides care to life-limited and life-threatened children, and their families, caring for 30 babies, children and their families. It also provides bereavement support for family members. In total it has supported 787 children and 1,223 family members across the organisation.

Russell Roof Tiles matched the money raised for Acorns by the charity match as part of its Pitching for Pennies scheme, where the company pledged to match fund any sponsored event an employee takes on for charity.

Ross said: “Through our Pitching for Pennies initiative, we can ensure our employees are recognised for getting involved with local community causes.”

“Acorns is such a vital organisation for the Midlands, providing irreplaceable support and services in its local community. We were pleased to be able to use our company resources and drive to help them continue in their work.”

Since 2015 Russell Roof Tiles has raised an impressive £78,000 for a variety of organisations since 2015. Staff have been involved in everything from a weight loss charity challenge to a “Strictly Come Dancing” inspired ballroom fundraiser.

Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent pitched roof tile manufacturer providing products for leading UK house builders and high-profile social housing and commercial projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority.
