Lizzie makes the 'It List'

Hinckley hair stylist through to finals of top UK hairdressing competition

KH Hair in Hinckley is celebrating, yet again, as senior stylist, Lizzie Williams, makes the top five in 'The Rising Star' category at top UK hairdressing competition - The It List.

The competition shines a spotlight on the brightest, most ambitious and creative new British and Irish talents aged 30 and under. Now in its tenth year, The It List – presented by leading industry publication Creative HEAD and exclusively sponsored by ghd – is the most exciting and rewarding competition for young British hairdressers, leading to career-defining recognition and opportunities.

This year’s entries were judged by an exceptional panel of hair, fashion and business experts and Lizzie (20) says she is over the moon to be shortlisted.

"I'm was so excited when I heard I'd made the finals and I can't wait to go down to London for the main event. It's great to be recognised for all my hard work but I really couldn't have done it without the support of my KH Hair family.  Thanks to each and every one of them for believing in me."

Lizzie will join a star-studded, 700-strong guest list at The It List Grand Final on Monday 2 September to discover if she will take home the title. Taking place at London’s Printworks – the atmospheric space that once delivered the Metro and Evening Standard newspapers to London –  the event will be hosted by actor and comedian Aisling Bea.

If successful, Lizzie will receive a prestigious It List trophy, an exclusive ghd workshop experience and 12 months of profile-projecting coverage in Creative HEAD in print and online.   The career-boosting benefits are far-reaching. Past winners have gone on to shoot with high-profile magazines, become ambassadors for global brands, launch successful salon businesses, lead hair teams at London Fashion Week and get signed by top talent agencies. They’ve also presented at exclusive Creative HEAD events up and down the country.

Creative HEAD editor, Amanda Nottage, said:

“There’s quite literally nothing else like The It List to shine a spotlight on tomorrow’s talent ,where young names are recognised and respected by a truly A list calibre of judges. For those who get on the It list, their careers will transform beyond recognition.”

2019 has been an exciting year for Lizzie so far. In May, she was chosen as a finalist at Wella's TrendVision competition, an event designed to find the very best hairdressing talent in the UK.  She is among 40 UK finalists who will go on to compete at the TrendVision Award UK & Ireland Final on 30th September at The Roundhouse, Camden, London.

Darren Messias, co-director of the KH Hair Group, said: "We are so happy for Lizzie.  She really is on a roll at the moment.  We are very proud of her amazing achievements, especially considering her young age.  It just goes to show what hard work and determination can bring, regardless of how old someone is."
