Wildgoose staff member sets off on 922-mile charity bike ride

A quantity surveyor at Wildgoose Construction has set off on a 922-mile charity bike ride which he is aiming to complete in eight days.

Joshua Mee, 27, set off on Saturday (June 15th) on the Great LEJOG Bike Adventure from Lands End to John O’Groats in aid of the Air Ambulance.

The Air Ambulance flies two air ambulances across Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland (DLRAA), Warwickshire and Northamptonshire (WNAA) and has been Wildgoose Construction’s chosen charity since 2017.

It provides a rapid response of just 13 minutes to trauma and medical emergencies over an area of 3,850 square miles and is non-Government funded.

Jonathan Wildgoose, Executive Chairman of Wildgoose Construction, based in Alfreton, said the company was fully behind Josh’s efforts.

He said:

“We are delighted to be supporting Josh on his cycle ride to raise money for such an important service, which we have supported since 2017.

“We support the Air Ambulance because with an average of three calls per day, of which 14% are for injuries related to construction activities and 39% road traffic injuries, statistically this is a service that we could need in the future.”

Josh will travel the length of Great Britain, with a 52,287 elevation gain, and will be joined by colleagues from Wildgoose Construction along the way, whilst colleague James Cruse will be on hand at all times.

Josh said:

“I would like to thank everyone who made a donation to the LEJOG challenge, I’m, I’m ready as I’ll ever be. The first few days look a bit grim but I’m sure I’ll get through it, if you haven’t already donated and you can spare a few pennies please do, we’re so close to the target of £5,000.”

Companies that have offered sponsorship include: Keyline; Hawksmoor, ARC Electrical, Markovitz and Rude Health. Brandon Hire Station also donated a four-ball at the Belfry that raised £150.
