Animal charity benefits from housebuilder’s donation

Staff working for a local housebuilder have joined together to help support animal charities across the East Midlands – including one in Billesdon.

The team at Bellway East Midlands – which is building new homes at Goodridge, off Beeby Road in Scraptoft – set up a collection point for animal food to be donated at its head office in Meridian Business Park in Leicester.

A proportion of the food was donated to Leicester Animal Rescue based on Tilton Road, which works to rehome cats and dogs in Leicestershire.

In all, the housebuilder has supported seven different animal charities across the East Midlands.

Tracy Bennett, Acting Manager of Leicester Animal Rescue, said:

“We want to thank Bellway for their kind donation.

“At Leicester Animal Rescue, we regularly take in dogs and cats from families who can no longer keep them

“We rely on people’s generosity and always welcome donations of food, bedding and cleaning products.”

Carolyne Watkinson, Sales Director for Bellway East Midlands, said:

“We are extremely proud of how our staff have clubbed together to support this worthy cause – they are clearly real animal lovers!

“We are committed to helping different charities within the areas in which we build new homes, so we set up a collection point to encourage staff to donate animal food and we were so pleased with the response.

“Leicester Animal Rescue is a fantastic charity and makes such a difference to so many animals, so we are really happy to be able to offer them support.”

The charity is currently working to rehome 20 dogs, 15 cats and 16 kittens. These include Tia (pictured).

Tia  is a six-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier, who is also looking for her forever home. Tia is gentle, good-natured and loves people.
