Housebuilder on track to smash charity fundraising target

The team at Miller Homes Midlands have put their best foot forward with their latest charity fundraising efforts by enduring a 10k mud run.

Fourteen members from the East Midlands office took part in the X Runner Wild Mud Run at Osmaston Manor, Derbyshire. Featuring mud mountains, forest rope climbs and lake swimming, the team who branded themselves the ‘Beasts from the East’, rallied together to tackle the tricky course, raising £2,236 in the process.

This is the first of many events the housebuilder will be holding this year to raise money for Habitat for Humanity, a charity that builds new homes for orphans and vulnerable children in Africa. Last year the regional team raised over £8,000 for the charity and this year they hope to raise even more.

Amber Hylton, team leader of Beasts from the East, said:

“To start this year’s fundraising efforts we wanted to do something interesting and demanding. X Runner is designed to challenge you at every step and to bring you together as a team to overcome each obstacle, so it was the perfect test for us.

“Creating homes is what we do on a daily basis, but having the opportunity to put our team skills to a different use and help support the charity, has been fantastic.”

Alastair Parsons, area sales director at Miller Homes Midlands, added:

“I am delighted at the efforts of our team in support of Habitat for Humanity. As a housebuilder, we understand how important it is for a family to live in a good home, no matter where they are in the world, so we are committed to supporting this excellent cause.

“This race, alongside the work our engineering manager Jake Richardson and the team did over in Malawi helping to build three homes for the families there, is just part of our annual fundraising efforts and we are excited to see what is next on the agenda.”
