A sanctuary for businesses in Derbyshire - Wednesday, 5th June, 6-8pm

The Sanctuary 18-19, Iron Gate, Derby. DE1 3GP (nearest parking The Assembly Rooms or Bold Lane)

For our Derbyshire June Connect Reception Derby Cathedral and Chapter invite Derbyshire businesses to the brand new Sanctuary at Derby Cathedral for an exclusive view, after an extensive refurbishment and launch of a new Derbyshire focused concept.

The Sanctuary which was the former cafe and book-shop has now been transformed into an ethically sourced gift shop and eatery. Over 80% of all products are sourced from the many talented Derbyshire makers and producers which include gin, candles, chocolates, vegan friendly marshmallows to gifts not found on the High Street. Derby Cathedral and the Sanctuary are proud to support local Derbyshire businesses and to showcase this local talent. The Sanctuary has a brand new and friendly team and will continue to serve excellent cuisine, but now with a new menu designed by a talented chef using locally sourced ingredients and provides a range of books.

The Sanctuary will be open everyday and in the evening, so an ideal spot for dining before attending an event, concert or evening out with clients or family and friends with traditional Sunday lunches, served on Sundays with delicious hot and cold puddings. Less well-known is the developing programme of concerts, comedy nights, acts and even jazz nights that take place in the Cathedral, so you can enjoy a great night out.

Proceeds from the Cathedral's new Sanctuary will go towards helping the community work of the Cathedral particularly in supporting people who are homeless and living with mental health and in keeping the Cathedral an open and welcoming place to all. The Sanctuary will also be available as a meeting and event space for businesses and community organisations and is ideally placed right at the heart of historic Derby.

With the installation of a new female Bishop of Derby in May the Cathedral and its diverse community is an exciting place to be as the new Bishop will continue to lead the wider Diocese of Derbyshire as both a church but also an important ally to Derbyshire businesses and the wider community.

We very much looking forward to connecting with you at the Sanctuary in June.
