Preston Henney was a local boy from Whitwick, who loved football and was a keen Leicester City supporter.

He was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in January 2013, a rare form of childhood cancer of the nerve cells, and tragically died on 22nd April 2017 aged only 9 yrs.  He and his family were being supported by Rainbows Hospice.

In 2018, Powerpac, decided to raise funds for the charity, by cycling from Preston’s much loved Leicester City FC ground to Preston FC via 5 other football grounds.  Last year we carried out the 100 Mile Skegness ride although this year in memory of Preston, the ride will be closer to home.  The starting point and base for the support is on Saturday 29th June at The George & Dragon in Thringstone.

The team of 15 plus riders will start at 7am from the George & Dragon in Thringstone and head out towards Burton Football then Derby Football Ground and back to The George & Dragon. The route then goes from The George & Dragon to Notts County/Notts Forest/Trent Bridge and then back to The George & Dragon from there cycling to Leicester Tigers then Leicester City with the final leg with the team of young riders aged 10-14 which will include Prestons family and friends heading from Leicester City Football Ground (The King Power Stadium) to the finish at The George and Dragon.

The idea on this route is to encourage people to join in and drop out of each leg or to do as much or as little as they want although most will be cycling the full distance.

The total ride will be 120 miles

If anyone would like to support the ride on the day, then it will be greatly appreciated.
