Howes Percival appointed to The Insolvency Service's £16m legal panel

Howes Percival has been re-appointed to The Insolvency Service's legal panel to provide a range of services in England, Wales and Scotland.

The Insolvency Service is an executive agency of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the work will include company investigations, directors disqualification proceedings, the recovery of funds from directors and the winding up of companies in the public interest. The anticipated value of the framework is £16 million.

Howes Percival has worked for the Insolvency Service for over 20 years and is currently conducting disqualification proceedings relating to the failure of BHS and connected companies.  The firm has been appointed as part of a consortium with PWC and City law firms Sharpe Pritchard and Holman Fenwick Willan.

The new appointment will be for a two-year period, with an option to extend the agreement by two further periods of 12 months.

Morris Peacock, the partner who successfully led the bid along with partners William Shirley and Edward Lee, commented;

"We are delighted with our re-appointment to the Insolvency Service panel and look forward to working with their teams across the UK in the coming years. We have a long track record of delivering for Government departments and have acted on a wide variety of cases, instigating landmark decisions in both the High Court and Court of Appeal.  This win recognises our national reputation in these key specialisms."

The appointment follows two other recent Government legal panel appointments for Howes Percival.  In September 2018, the firm was appointed to the Government's Crown Commercial Service (CCS) Full Service panel for England and Wales as part of a consortium.

The Full Service panel covers a broad range of legal services including commercial, corporate, property and construction, IT, data protection, litigation and public procurement and can be used by the ‘wider public sector', including health, education, local and regional government, emergency services and third sector and social housing organisations.

While in 2017, Howes Percival was appointed, again in consortium, as a Tier 1 supplier to CCS's General Legal Advice Services panel, used by all UK central government ministerial and non-ministerial departments.
