Local homebuilder helps pupils construct their careers in Nottingham

Assisting students with constructing their career paths, Barratt Homes North Midlands recently attended Rushcliffe School’s Careers Fair in West Bridgford to offer advice on securing a career in the housebuilding industry.

Representatives of the Nottinghamshire-based developer were on hand to speak to the enthusiastic pupils looking to take the next step on their educational journey.

On hand from Barratt Homes were Charlotte Henson (Planning Manager), Cheryl Arnold (Senior Buyer), Jessica Beasley (Marketing Co-ordinator) and Sophie Fraser (Customer Care Co-ordinator) to enlighten the pupils on the extensive range of opportunities available to both men and women.

With the Careers Fair taking place on International Women’s Day, it was a fantastic chance for Barratt Homes’ female employees to speak with the girls at the school as ambassadors of women in the construction industry.

Victoria Williams, teacher of science at Rushcliffe School, said:

“The Careers Fair was a great success; the girls really got a lot of information and inspiration from all the companies who came. The representatives of Barratt Homes were a credit to their company, lots of girls commented on how many careers there are in the construction industry.”

Rhona, Year 10 student at Rushcliffe School, said:

“It was an eye opening experience seeing what careers are available for women in STEM.”

Barratt Homes was invited to Rushcliffe School’s Careers Fair, at which there were over 30 guests present for students to approach and seek professional guidance on building a career in a wide range of industries.

Chris Southgate, Managing Director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said:

“Helping young students to consider a career in the construction industry is a key objective of ours and we’re grateful for this opportunity with Rushcliffe School.

“Our representatives were able to enlighten the pupils on the variety of career paths available with Barratt Homes, whilst supplying them with useful leaflets for them to look into the prospects in more detail.”
