Connect Derby stages open evening and launch of new show office

Anyone who runs a business and is thinking about expanding or moving to new office space is invited to a special Open Evening to find out more about the Connect Derby scheme and take a look around a new show office, which has just been launched at Friar Gate Studios.

The Connect Derby Open Evening is taking place at Friar Gate Studios on Tuesday 19 March (4.30pm - 7.00pm).

Business owners are invited to pop into the Studios on Ford Street any time between 4.30pm and 7.00pm for an informal chat with the business support team at Connect Derby team, which supports new, developing and established businesses at its seven managed workspaces across the city.

Members of the team will be on-hand to provide information about the range of accommodation and services on offer at the six buildings where accommodation is still available - Friar Gate Studios, Sadler Bridge Studios, Riverside Chambers, Marble Hall and Kings Chambers - with the iHub innovation centre on Infinity Park and Shot Tower now at full capacity.

Guests will be able to take a tour of Friar Gate Studios, the headquarters of the Connect Derby scheme, and check out the building’s new show office, which has been designed to show prospective tenants what can be achieved with the space.

There will also be an opportunity to meet existing tenants and find out the benefits of being based at Connect Derby, including flexible lease terms and superfast broadband connectivity, along with a package of support services.

The Open Evening is free to attend and is open to existing businesses thinking of expanding or relocating their operation or anyone planning to set up their own business. Refreshments will be provided by the award-winning Bean Caffe.

Commenting on the event, Ann Bhatti, head of Connect Derby, said:

“We look forward to welcoming local businesses to another of our popular Connect Derby open evenings at Friar Gate Studios.  The main focus of the event will be to highlight the range of accommodation, services and facilities that are available at Connect buildings, each of which has a unique offering for SMEs and microbusinesses.

“We can accommodate businesses of all sizes at our purpose-designed workspaces and would encourage anyone who is interested in joining the vibrant Connect Derby community to pop in on 19 March and have a chat with the team,” added Ann.

Connect Derby is a £30m project which brings together Derby City Council’s workspaces under one banner to create jobs for local people. It provides micro businesses, entrepreneurs and SMEs with the high specification working environment, IT infrastructure and business support they need to improve business survival rates and act as a catalyst for expansion and growth.
