Free event offers advice on planning in a challenging landscape

A free event for professionals involved in a range of areas of planning and development is being held in Northamptonshire at the start of April.

The business breakfast and networking event, entitled ‘Making plans in a complex world’ is taking place at Stanwick Lakes in Wellingborough on Thursday 4th April. It is aimed at planners, developers, housebuilders, architects and project managers as well as local authorities.

Organised by environmental planning and forestry consultants Lockhart Garratt, the key speaker will be Stephen Kelly, Joint Director of Planning and Economic Development for South Cambridgeshire District Council.

Stephen Kelly’s talk will focus on a range of topical planning issues, including how to achieve consensus around spatial planning in the current climate of change and how national government and local authorities can successfully collaborate. He will also explore expectations arising from the new focus on landscape-led growth, natural capital, zero carbon futures and net environmental gain.

“We are very much looking forward to welcoming Stephen on April 4th,” comments Lockhart Garratt Chairman John Lockhart. “He is a highly experienced leader with an impressive track record in managing the delivery of organisational improvement programmes in parallel with regeneration and development outcomes. We anticipate that the audience will benefit from what promises to be a fascinating and informative talk in the context of this challenging yet exciting time in the planning sector.”

In addition to the topics covered in Stephen’s talk, there will be a chance to discuss the potential implications of Brexit and the opportunities available around the Oxford-Cambridge corridor. Delegates will also have the opportunity to ask questions and network with fellow professionals.

There are 40 free spaces available for the event which runs from 7.30am – 9.30am. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis with a reserve list available for those who register after all 40 places have been taken.

Anyone interested in reserving a place should contact event organiser Victoria Sherbourne on 01536 463200 or Victoria@lguk.com.

Lockhart Garratt is one of England's leading independent forestry and environmental planning consultancies and celebrated 20 years in business in 2018.
