John Pye continues growth and investment in Nottingham 50 years on

John Pye Auctions has announced further expansion of its Nottingham headquarters with two brand new salerooms set to open in the city where the UK’s largest auction house network was first established over 50 years ago.

The new showrooms will bring the total number of salerooms at the Nottingham HQ to nine, accommodating the continued demand from high street retailers nationwide and increasing the overall retail and vehicles sale space of the site to 72,500 sq. ft.

Ten new jobs will be created across the new salerooms, the first of which is set to open later this week, with the first online sale going live on Tuesday 12th March. Doors will open for public viewing every Wednesday between 4:30pm and 7:30pm and customers can browse hundreds of products on display including a large selection of musical instruments. The second saleroom will open later this year in May.

A variety of premium retail stock will be showcased across the indoor salerooms including home appliances, tech & gadgets and home electricals, with an ever-changing selection of stock arriving each week from top high street brands including Bosch, Samsung and Apple.

The salerooms will also include warranty auctions as part of the new company division - John Pye Technical, offering refurbished tech items complete with parts and labour warranties that include one, three, six and twelve-month warranty options.

Associate Director and Site Manager, Mike Vitale, has overseen the Nottingham expansion plans, he said:

“I joined John Pye Auctions over 12 years ago, and it’s been fantastic to see the company grow from strength to strength in that time, expanding regionally, nationally and internationally.

“The expansion of the Nottingham headquarters and the new showrooms will give us the much-needed additional floorspace to showcase the thousands of products coming through our auctions every week.”

The news comes just weeks after the announcement that John Pye Auctions has opened its second largest auction facility in Chesterfield, boasting 233,000 sq. ft of sale space which will host up to 14 individual salesrooms.

The award-winning national auctioneer celebrated its 50th anniversary last year and reported a record-breaking trading year in 2018. The company has seen a significant growth in online bidders, as well as increased footfall across its UK auction showrooms, with higher demand from the company’s high street retail clients.

The family owned business expanded into the international market with the launch of its first online auction in the United Arab Emirates last December, as well as being crowned the UK’s asset valuer and auctioneer of the year for the last four years at the UK’s Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards.

Adam Pye, managing director, said:

“The company began in Nottingham over 50 years ago and we are thrilled to be investing in our headquarters in the city where it all began.

“2019 will be an exciting year as we continue to expand rapidly to meet the growing supplier demand. In the first quarter of this year, we’ve already opened our second largest auction facility in the prime location of Chesterfield and we won’t be stopping there.”

The company comprises of six trading departments; John Pye Property, John Pye Retail, John Pye Business Assets, John Pye Vehicles, John Pye Luxury and John Pye Technical.
