Nottingham set to promote city's strongest ever offering at MIPIM

Team Nottingham will showcase some £1.2 billion worth of investment opportunities when it heads to MIPIM, the world’s largest property expo, next month (12-15 Mar) – one of the city’s strongest ever offerings.

The public-private sector team, which is made up of more than 30 sponsors from across the city’s thriving property industry, is heading to Cannes with what is considered to be one of the largest and most exciting regeneration programmes in the UK as part of its portfolio to share with potential investors and developers, with £1.2bn of opportunities available.

The Southside regeneration, which will include a total of £2bn of investment within just a 0.5sq mile area once complete, has gained momentum in recent months and will offer unprecedented prime real estate opportunities within the heart of the city centre – as well as creating thousands of jobs.

Head of inward investment at Invest in Nottingham, Lorraine Baggs, said:

“We have already seen considerable activity as part of the Southside development programme, spearheaded by significant investment from Nottingham City Council into the transformation of the train station and extension of the tram network, the redevelopment of intu Broadmarsh as well as public realm improvements.

“This is one of the strongest offerings Nottingham has ever taken to MIPIM, which will not only offer exceptional opportunities for investors and developers, but will also create thousands of local jobs and totally transform this area of the city centre.

“By being at MIPIM, we are able to really showcase what Nottingham has to offer and put our exceptional offering for 2019 in front of people from across the globe; we have a number of schemes in the pipeline for which we are keen to secure development partners to help further drive this landmark regeneration.”

Public sector investment in the Southside area of the city has already acted as a catalyst for private developers with a number of significant schemes now underway, and further proposals having been submitted for planning approval.

Lorraine added:

“There is a buzz around the Southside and it is the perfect time to be able to take that message to investors and developers on the international stage at MIPIM. Many of our sponsors are involved in the various schemes taking place across the city and we are looking forward to being able to collectively promote what Nottingham has to offer.”

During the week, Nottingham will be taking part in the packed events programme planned within the Midlands Pavilion to showcase what it has to offer investors.

Cllr Jon Collins will present the city’s vision for the Southside development programme, highlighting the opportunities available to investors and developers. He will also take part in

a panel debate focussing on growth within the Midlands alongside high-profile representatives from organisations including HS2 and Lendlease.
