Barratt and David Wilson Homes raises more than £26k for its charity of the year Alzheimer's Society

Leading developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands has raised more than £26,000 in total for its chosen charity of the year, Alzheimer’s Society.

A cheque totalling £26,500 was presented to the charity to mark the fundraising efforts of the division and will now go towards supporting people living with dementia and their carers.
One of the main fundraising efforts undertaken was a sponsored cycle across the housebuilder’s developments in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Warwickshire.

Employees of Barratt and David Wilson Homes have also been working hard to raise vital funds throughout the year with dress down days and various in-house raffles and are delighted with the sum raised.

This total includes the £15,000 donation by parent company Barratt Developments.

Chris Southgate, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said:

“We are delighted to announce that we have managed to raise £26,500 for our charity of the year, Alzheimer’s Society.

“As a leading housebuilder we understand the importance of supporting charities and communities and strive to give back wherever we can. It is a pleasure to be able to support the vital work being carried out by the charity and the work they do is very admirable.

“Alzheimer’s Society was chosen as our charity of the year in January 2018 and since then our employees have been working to raise funds for the cause, with the main event being a sponsored cycle.”

Heidi Wilkinson, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in the East Midlands, said:

“Dementia is the 21st century’s biggest killer, with someone developing it every three minutes.  We are delighted that Barratt and David Wilson Homes has united against dementia by supporting Alzheimer’s Society. I want to say a big thankyou to staff whose support will help us improve care, offer help and understanding and find new treatments for people affected.”
