IoD Announces 5th East Midlands Women as Leaders Convention. The Importance of Leadership and how to be an Effective Leader.

Charlotte Valeur, Chair of the Institute of Directors headlines as keynote speaker at the Institute of Directors (IoD) East Midlands Women as Leaders Convention 2019.

Charlotte was appointed Chair in September 2018 and is a corporate governance expert and a keen advocate for diversity.  She will be joined by a list of some of the region’s top leaders with inspirational stories to share with delegates to the lunchtime event on Friday 29th March at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham.

The event is sponsored by Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University and Melanie Currie, Deputy Dean said “ At Nottingham Business School we are committed to developing and supporting the leaders of the future and enabling them to meet their ambitions.  We are delighted to support the Institute of Directors on this event, with a focus on women as leaders.  I am sure we will all be inspired by the fantastic speakers and their personal reflections and stories of leadership.”

Louise Third MBE of Integra Communications Ltd, a respected PR and communications consultant specialising in business growth, will return to host the event for a second year.


The confirmed speakers who will also participate in an interactive  panel discussion include:

Lisa Wainwright, established leader in the world of sport; Bill Skelly, Chief Constable of Lincolnshire; Karen Smart, Managing Director of East Midlands Airport; Susan Hallam, Founder and CEO of Hallam Internet and Caroline Killeavy, Chief Executive of YMCA Lincolnshire. This event is well established in the East Midlands calendar and now in its fifth year.  It aims to address not only women in leadership but why we need good leaders in the current challenging times and what good leadership looks like in our own organisations.
