Newark Health and Wellness Centre Opens Doors with HSBC UK Finance

A Newark health and wellness centre opened this month following a six figure Commercial Mortgage from HSBC UK.

Spectrum Wellness and Performance, run by Paul and Joanne Farquharson, provides physiotherapy, yoga, pilates, personal training and a range of select exercise classes and therapies. The business brings together specialists from each field to provide holistic health and wellness support to patients across Nottinghamshire. The practice will see roughly 120 patients per day across its services.

Paul’s background as a physiotherapist in the military, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration, gave him and his wife the idea to develop a business which would offer a comprehensive approach to health and wellness.

Paul, Director at Spectrum Wellness and Performance, said:

“By bringing in multiple disciplines under one roof, we’re now able to provide patients with diagnoses, treatment and exercises with more ease than we could working in silos. As we’ve brought together independent practitioners to provide our services, we’ve also been able to help secure a stronger future for our colleagues. Our HSBC UK Relationship Manager, Chris Munnings, took the time to really get under the skin of our business and has helped turn our vision into a reality.”

Spectrum has created two new jobs to support the running of the practice, including a catering team member and holistic massage therapist. The business also hopes to expand its services into mental health management by bringing in a range of psychological services and a nutrition coach.

Dave Welch, East Midlands Business Banking Area Director, HSBC UK said:

“We were thrilled to be able to support Spectrum in funding the new premises. The health and wellness market is booming right now and Paul and his team are perfectly placed to support patients with holistic care, from those recovering from an ongoing health issue to those looking to simply live a more balanced lifestyle.”

This deal is part of HSBC UK’s £500 million lending fund to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the East Midlands.
