J Tomlinson drives ahead with 200 vans

Building services specialist, J Tomlinson, is driving ahead into 2019 with a record number of vans in its fleet.

The company recently expanded its fleet following a delivery of new vans from local commercial vehicle rental provider, Northgate – passing the 200-van milestone.

Since partnering with Northgate in June 2017, J Tomlinson has taken delivery of over 50 new vans – all of which are equipped with dead bolts, which have considerably reduced break-ins. As well as enhancing security, all Northgate vans use AdBlue – a high-quality urea solution designed to reduce vehicle CO2 emissions. Furthermore, by securing van vaults to the floor of each vehicle as a customised solution, Northgate continues to help J Tomlinson save time and money and ensure operatives can focus on delivering a quality service to its expanding customer base.

J Tomlinson has experienced significant growth over the past year, with the number of operatives employed by the company having increased following the securing of new contracts, including a £4m p/a repairs and maintenance contract with Home Group – one of the largest housing associations in the UK.

Jane Hatton, fleet manager at J Tomlinson, added:

“We have 218 vans to date and another six on order, which I feel really reflects the ongoing growth of the company.

“We’re getting more and more J Tomlinson vans on to the road every year, and it’s great to see them in Yorkshire, too!”

The new vans have been distributed to new starters for the company, which specialises in construction, refurbishment, repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical engineering, facilities management and renewables.

Kate Thorpe, Account Manager for Northgate Vehicle Hire, said:

“We are very proud to have helped J Tomlinson to reduce not only its bills, but also its emissions, by providing a newer vehicle fleet. It’s fantastic to be in a partnership with a growing organisation that’s really going places.”

J Tomlinson, which was founded in the 1950s, is based in Nottingham and works primarily across the West Midlands, East Midlands and Yorkshire, increased its turnover from £74 million in 2016 to £87 million in 2017. It employs more than 460 people.

It provides a range of integrated building solutions including construction, refurbishment, repairs and maintenance, mechanical and electrical services (M&E), and facilities management, and works across all major sectors, including healthcare, social housing, student accommodation, commercial and industrial.

As well as its head office at Beeston near Nottingham, it has two main regional offices in Canwell in the West Midlands and in Wakefield, Yorkshire.
