It’s party time at Mencap with Hinckley & Rugby

Christmas arrived early at Hinckley Mencap with a party organised by volunteers from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society.

Thirteen colleagues from Hinckley & Rugby threw the party for Hinckley Mencap’s Thursday Club with a buffet, Christmas bingo and a visit from Santa, who presided over a game of ‘Play Your Cards Right’. The evening ended with a singalong to favourite Christmas carols.

More than 20 guests and helpers from Mencap at Hill Street in Hinckley joined in the fun provided by the Hinckley & Rugby team which was organised by Jess Grewcock.

Jess, assistant people development manager, said:

“The members and volunteers had a really fun evening, and everybody got involved in the games. The Christmas carols were sung by everyone, which was the perfect ending to a perfect night.

“It was a pleasure to be the team leader for this year’s Mencap festive challenge. The members thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the food, games and, most of all, the appearance from Santa in the shape of our new chief executive Colin Fyfe.

“We are very lucky to be able to put on this Christmas party, it was nice to see everybody enjoying themselves and getting into the Christmas spirit.”

Kelly Emery, society secretary at Hinckley & District Mencap, said:

“This is the third year running Hinckley & Rugby has thrown our Thursday Club a party and each and every year has been absolutely brilliant.

“We cannot thank them enough. Our members were thrilled when I was able to confirm that they were coming back again this year and they did not disappoint. Our members had an absolutely fabulous time. Thanks, from all of us at Hinckley Mencap.”
