Russell Ulyatt confirms place amongst UK’s best financial advisers

There is cause for a double celebration at Russell Ulyatt Financial Services, a leading firm of independent financial advisers headquartered in Nottingham.

The firm, which is at the core of The RU Group, has once again achieved Chartered status from the premier professional body for the insurance and financial planning professions and its Financial Planning Manager has been recognised as one of the best financial planners in the UK.

The company, which has roots in financial advice dating back over 135 years and is headquartered on the ng2 Business Park, is ending 2018 on a high with the news of its double success.

Chartered Status

Russell Ulyatt Financial Services has again been awarded the landmark “Chartered Financial Planners” title by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) following rigorous scrutiny of its professional practice in the conduct and management of its business. This is the third-year in succession that the firm has achieved the award which demonstrates that the high professional standards required by the CII are deeply embedded within the company’s practice and culture.

To achieve this award, firms are required to demonstrate their commitment to the CII’s Code of Ethics, reinforcing the highest standards by ensuring that their employees are competent, knowledgeable and ethical in their work.  With its commitment to facilitating the ongoing professional development of staff, Russell Ulyatt is delighted to receive this external validation of the high quality its business practises.

Being awarded corporate chartered status is important for Russell Ulyatt’s clients and staff, enabling them to feel confident that they are with a company which continues to receive official recognition for its standards of excellence and professionalism, its strong set of core values and its ethical work practices.

As Ian Browne, Head of Advice at Russell Ulyatt, explains:

“To achieve Corporate Chartered Status, a percentage of a company’s financial planners have to be chartered themselves. As you can imagine, as the firm grows, the more challenging it is to maintain the status as the number of chartered staff must grow with it. This year’s requirement is for 25% of advisers to be chartered and this rises to 50% in 2020. I am delighted to say that we have already reached that figure, two years ahead of schedule.”

“It is testament to our values and culture of continuous professional development and the hard work of our team that we have been able to confirm our chartered status for the third year running.”

To date, fewer than 750 of over 5,000 financial advice firms nationwide have achieved Chartered status illustrating that this is a most exclusive award reserved for the highest achieving firms within the financial advice market.

Chartered Financial Planner of the Year Award

It is not just the company that has been recognised by the CII, but also one of its senior staff.

Nick Onslow, Chartered Financial Planner and Financial Planning Manager at Russell Ulyatt, saw off competition from 40 fellow chartered financial planners to be named as one of three finalists in the ‘Chartered Financial Planner of the Year’ category at the Personal Finance Society Awards 2018.

After progressing through the rigorous three stage selection process which required an initial 500-word entry, answering a hypothetical case study, as well as an in-depth interview with a panel of industry experts, Nick received the accolade of ‘Highly Commended’ for clearly demonstrating his commitment to excellent client outcomes and his commitment to ethical standards.

The judges were also impressed with Nick’s passion for the industry and his high standards of professionalism and expertise which make him worthy of being named as a role model for the industry. Nick’s relentless drive to ensure that the company is at the leading edge of financial advice has been influential in helping Russell Ulyatt achieve Chartered Status for the third year running.

Commenting on his award success, Nick said:

“Competition for the award was particularly fierce with some of the UK’s leading financial planners demonstrating their expertise. This is the ultimate endorsement of excellence and professional achievement and I’m delighted to have been named as part of this elite group. This recognition rounds off what has been a hugely successful year for the firm and is further endorsement of the company’s strong performance and progress.”
