Women have united in Coventry to provide more opportunities for career development and business growth in the region.

More than 50 women in business have joined forces to launch the first Love Ladies Business Group in the city.

The group, which offers support and networking opportunities for women in business, is a rapidly expanding network which was set up six years ago by one lady who wanted to create an opportunity for women in business to flourish.

The Coventry community is the 12th area to open across the Midlands and has already welcomed 50 women to its first meeting.

Kate Jenkins, who runs the monthly events at Ansty Hall, in Coventry, said:

“We have had a really positive response from local businesses since the launch. Networking is a great way of growing your business and finding the support you need. As women it is great to be able to support one another and make a difference. I am really looking forward to the group continuing to grow and flourish in the coming months.”

Kate, who worked in a Coventry bank for 25 years before taking early retirement to set up her own business – Esme’s Emporium - and follow her passion for creativity, is supported by two local ambassadors Sue Tonks and Jacqui Jagger.

The trio offer monthly informal networking meetings which support and encourage women to share business opportunities with each other.

“Feedback from women in the local area has been really positive,” said Kate. “There are other groups but we seem to offer a unique ethos that appeals to local women looking to build strong business relationships with the local community.”

Love Ladies Business Group was set up in 2012 by Midlands business lady Sue Crooks after she struggled to find a networking group which offered a relaxed and informal opportunity for women looking to do business without the pressured expectation of sales.

The group now has 12 areas across the Midlands and is seeing its fun and friendly ethos attracting interest from far afield.

The Coventry group meet on the last Tuesday of every month at Ansty Hall. The next meeting is in the New Year on Tuesday 29th January.
