New Corporate Finance Club hailed as success after first event

The founder of the Leicestershire Corporate Finance Club has hailed the group's first event a huge success and confirmed that plans are already coming together for the next meeting on 12th February 2019.

Daniel Banton, partner and head of the corporate commercial team in Howes Percival's Leicester office, who set up the Club, said he was delighted with the response he'd received for the new initiative.

Mr Banton commented,

"The Leicestershire business community has been very supportive, and we had a fantastic turn-out on the day.  The feedback we've had so far confirms that there is a need for this kind of group to encourage people to work together more and shout a little bit louder about the quality and the experience we have on offer.  Since the event, I've had a number of people get in touch to ask if they can come to the next one, which is fantastic."

The Club aims to highlight and promote the services available to local businesses and organisations and ultimately increase the number of corporate deals completed within Leicestershire.  The Club held its inaugural meeting earlier this month, with leading local businessman Mike Kapur OBE FRSA, the guest speaker.

Mr Kapur spoke about his career and the challenges he had faced as co-founder and director of telecoms and IT specialist company, Signum Corporate Communications.  He also talked about his new role as Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire and why the county is such a great business hub.

Mr Kapur is also chairman of the National Space Centre and talked about his hopes for the planned Leicester Space Park, which could put the city at the centre of space-related research, innovation and skills development and provide huge benefits for businesses.

Mr Banton, commented,

"We are hugely grateful to Mike Kapur for taking the time to come and talk to the group and share his unique insights.  As he said himself, Leicestershire is a great place to do business.  Our aim is simply to ensure that local businesses are aware that they can access all the support they need from banks, accountants, solicitors, and other professional advisors without looking too far."

The Leicestershire Corporate Finance Club will meet on a quarterly basis and is open to financiers and professionals working in the field of corporate finance in the region.  Anyone interested in joining the Club can find out more information by emailing events@howespercival.com.
