Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service launch '12 Donations of Christmas' appeal

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service would like to share a warm and fuzzy story with you.

Last year, one of our Community Safety Officers had a great idea for a very heart-warming campaign that put a huge smile on the faces of 30 local residents who were both vulnerable and lonely over the festive period. This year we are asking for your help to put a little sparkle into someone’s Christmas!

In 2017 we collected donations of food, drink, toiletries and Christmas gifts from local businesses and were able to make up 30 festive Christmas hampers for distribution. Through safe and well visits carried out throughout the year, the Community Safety Officer and Firefighters identified those members of their community that were vulnerable and would be spending Christmas alone; a hamper was then allocated, along with a special Christmas visit to deliver the hamper.  The Community Safety Officer and Firefighters were also able to spend a little time with that individuals to help alleviate the loneliness that the festive period can intensify. This initiative would not have been possible without the generosity of local business.

This year we are hoping 12 businesses will join us with our 2018 campaign to spread some festive cheer, by each donating £100. This money will go towards the purchase of hamper baskets and gift wrap that will be filled with all manner of kindly donated festive delights.
