Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

New club aims to raise profile of Leicestershire corporate finance community

A new Club, which aims to develop, promote and nurture a successful corporate finance community in Leicestershire, will hold its inaugural meeting on 13 November 2018.

  • New initiative to raise awareness of the wealth of Professional Services talent and experience in the county;
  • Club aims to ensure more Leicestershire transactions are completed in the region;
  • Guest speaker, The Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mike Kapur OBE FRSA, will address the inaugural meeting.

The Leicestershire Corporate Finance Club, founded by leading regional law firm Howes Percival, is designed to bring together a network of peers and technical experts to discuss and debate issues relevant to corporate finance.

The Club will meet on a quarterly basis and is open to financiers and professionals working in the field of corporate finance in the region including - banks, accountants, solicitors, wealth managers and advisors.  The Club aims to create an inclusive community that works together to highlight and promote the services available to local businesses and organisations and ultimately increase the number of corporate deals completed within Leicestershire and the surrounds.

Leading Local businessman and Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mike Kapur OBE FRSA, will be the Club's first guest speaker.  Mr Kapur, founder and director of telecoms and IT specialist company, Signum Corporate Communications, will share his thoughts on the Leicestershire business community and activity in the region.

Daniel Banton, partner and head of the corporate commercial team in Howes Percival's Leicester office commented,

"Leicestershire is a great place to do business and is home to a hugely impressive range of companies - from entrepreneurial start-ups to international household names.  For any business to flourish, they need access to the right advice and finance and we have an incredibly strong professional services sector in the county.  However, whilst the skills and the experience are all here, there is sometimes a sense that a few too many Leicestershire deals are conducted outside of our region.

"Leicestershire's central location and transport links are great for businesses, but it also means there is often competition from advisors from Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham and London.  We need to shout a bit louder about the wealth of professional services experience we have and make sure local businesses know they can access quality help and advice on their doorstep. The aim of the Leicestershire Corporate Finance Club is to do just that and connect people from different disciplines, working within the world of corporate finance.  We believe by working together, we can benefit not only local corporate finance firms, but also the wider economy."

The inaugural meeting of the Leicestershire Corporate Finance Club will be held on Tuesday 13 November 2018 (4.30pm to 6.00pm) at the Marriott Hotel, Smith Way, Grove Park, Enderby, Leicester, LE19 1SW.
