Harrier ensures smooth health and safety sailing at the Bristol Viva! City Ethical Life Festival

Midlands-based health & safety specialists Harrier UK Ltd recently took their expertise down to Bristol to ensure the first outdoor Viva! City Ethical Life Festival ran safely and smoothly.

The festival took place at Bristol City Hall and College Green, and aimed to raise awareness of animal welfare and the benefits of living a vegan or vegetarian and green lifestyle.

Viva! holds several events throughout the year, across the UK. The events consist of live music, free yoga classes and numerous food vendors. After extensive research, the festival’s organisers selected Harrier to assist them at their Bristol event.

Harrier’s specialists supported the Viva! City Ethical Life Festival organisers by supplying a Health and Safety Advisor in the run up to the event, organised the necessary health & safety documentation such as licencing, and also helped with the sourcing and implementing of event staff such as first aiders.

Sophie Delarny, Festival and Events Manager at Viva! said,

“After researching online and contacting businesses Harrier seemed like the best option. They have been an absolute dream to work with. The Bristol event has been a great learning experience for me personally and the Harrier team were so helpful on advising me and assisting with the health & safety aspects of the festival. I honestly couldn’t have done it without them.”

Having provided health & safety support to a number of UK festivals this summer, Harrier believes that effective health & safety management is a key part of any festival or event. In this area, the company provides assistance with handling health & safety documentation, crowd safety, and works to implement the necessary safety procedures for a range of events.

Harrier’s Business Manager, Helen McCabe said,

“It was a pleasure to support Sophie and the other event organisers at Viva! for the Bristol festival. They are truly committed to their cause but equally, they were committed to making sure their event ran smoothly and safely. We helped them with sourcing health and safety personnel and managing the necessary documentation they would need. It was great to see the success of the event, and it made the team incredibly proud to have been a part of that success.”

Harrier believes in a collaborative approach which ultimately puts people first when it comes to health and safety and event management. The specialist brings over 20 years’ experience of event safety, working on major events across the UK and further afield, as well as providing high quality training and advice for small businesses.
