Construction experts to discuss Leicester's future

INNOVATION and regeneration will be the key talking points at a construction panel event hosted by De Montfort University, as part of the Leicester Business Festival 2018.

With millions of pounds currently being invested into schemes across Leicester, industry experts will come together on Wednesday 31 October to discuss why the time is now for regeneration in the city.

The breakfast event, which will take place at Leicester Castle Business School, will be held during the two-week annual festival incorporating hundreds of free business events arranged by Leicester organisations.

The highly-anticipated panel event will be headed by construction experts from Pick Everard, CPMG Architects, Couch Perry Wilkes, Leicester City Council and Willmott Dixon. The industry professionals will discuss how a digital transformation within the construction industry is no longer simply an option, but a necessity, and the barriers that must be overcome to ensure the industry can effectively progress.

Helen Donnellan, director of business engagement at DMU, said:

“There is a huge amount of regeneration taking place in Leicester and Leicestershire at the moment, from the restoration of the Great Central Station to new residential schemes and schools.

“The city is seeing some of its largest projects that it has seen in decades, which are all feeding the local economy, providing jobs, homes and of course economic output. Our event will discuss the impact of this regeneration, and why now is the right time for Leicester to see such a significant transformation.

“As well as this, our speakers will discuss digital transformation. The utilisation of technologies such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Reality (VR) is now commonplace within the industry, leaving many speculating what the next digital drive will be and what impact it will have on the supply chain. This event will bring together professionals from every aspect of the construction supply chain to explore the best strategies and solutions for a more productive and profitable future.

“We encourage people to attend with questions in hand to learn more about this exciting time for Leicester.”

The event will take place in the Civil Court from 8-10am, breakfast will be available for attendees, alongside networking opportunities.
