Nottingham solar energy firm cleans up at national awards

Nottingham firm EvoEnergy – one of the UK’s leading providers of rooftop renewable energy systems - has scooped three top national awards including Contractor of the Year for a second consecutive year for its money and carbon-saving solar panel solutions at the Solar Power Portal and Energy Storage News Awards in Birmingham.

The company which is one of the country’s largest commercial rooftop and carport solar energy installers, won the public vote for Best in Show Solar Design Award for the curved solar photovoltaic (PV) panel system it designed and installed at Oat Errish Farm, a remarkable spiral house in Devon featured in Channel 4’s Grand Designs programme.

EvoEnergy was also named Commercial & Industrial Storage Project of the Year for a major rooftop solar technology scheme, which is powering a massive distribution centre in Telford for global office supplies company Lyreco.  This unique income-generating carbon-reduction solution, which is the UK’s largest industrial-scale project combining battery storage, solar PV and electric vehicle (EV) charging points, is expected to deliver substantial savings on energy bills.  Lyreco is now a leading reference site for using multiple green technologies as part of a complete smart energy solution. The site also provides a snapshot of the UK’s energy future and will hopefully encourage other businesses to follow suit.

EvoEnergy specialises in helping private and public sector organisations – from major high street food retailers to local authorities – reduce their carbon emissions and convert their buildings into ‘sustainable energy centres’ through rooftop solar PV, battery storage and EV charging.

“At a time when over a third of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions are from heating commercial and industrial buildings, EvoEnergy is committed to helping British organisations find affordable solar power solutions to cut their carbon footprint and lower their energy costs,” says Mark Wakeford, EvoEnergy managing director “We’re delighted to receive these three important national awards which recognise this commitment and the fantastic work our project teams are doing in the field to support and delight our customers.”

EvoEnergy was also shortlisted for best Commercial Rooftop Solar Installation of the Year and Residential Rooftop Solar Installation of the Year awards.
