FSB Sponsors Leicester Business Festival

The FSB is once again sponsoring the Leicester Business Festival, a two week festival featuring around 120 business events across the county aimed at growing our local economy, strengthening local business connections and encouraging inward investment.

Run on behalf of the business community by the Leicester Business Festival Community Interest Company (CiC), the two-week Festival will be taking place from Monday 29 October to Friday 9 November 2018.

Local FSB Development Manager, Jennifer Thomas represents our local membership on the LBF steering group and said:

"The FSB area volunteer team is delighted to be able to sponsor the Leicester Business Festival again this year. Well over 99% of the registered businesses in Leicester and Leicestershire are SMEs and 78% have under 5 staff and we see the festival as a key opportunity for small businesses and the self-employed to network, develop their skills and access advice and support.

"I’m really pleased to see the launch of a new App for the festival this year, developed by local FSB members Infonote Data Systems, to help local businesspeople choose and keep on top of their bookings, and look forward to meeting as many members as possible during what are always the busiest and most productive two weeks in the Leicestershire business community diary.

"While we offer our members a great deal of business support services, we are primarily a lobbying organisation; our latest campaign, #ThinkSelfEmployed aims to support the UKs 4.8 million self-employed to climb higher, and the festival is a key opportunity to talk about and tackle the challenges businesses and in particular small businesses and the self-employed face, as well as highlight support available.

"We will be ensuring that some of our key campaign work with MPs takes place in the run-up to and during the festival, in recognition of the importance of the festival to the local business calendar, and we hope that the small business community will join us in taking part in the campaign and taking advantage of the festival period."

The FSB’s events as part of the festival include:

2 Nov: #ThinkSelfEmployed themed roundtable discussion with Nicky Morgan MP

5 Nov: ‘Woman Who…..’ partnership event at The Belmont Hotel, Leicester

In the run-up to the festival FSB will also be meeting members and discussing their businesses and concerns on the Think Self Employed agenda at the following event:

19 Oct: #ThinkSelfEmployed roundtable with Tom Pursglove MP (Corby and East Northants)

Local FSB members and their contacts and clients are encouraged to take advantage of the festival either by attending some of the 120 events put on locally, or joining the conversation and business opportunities shared on social media by following #LBF2018 @LBFestival. Tweet FSB region on @FSBEastMids and local (Leics Northants and Rutland) on @FSB_L_N_R using #ThinkSelfEmployed.
