Free Cyber Security Seminar will give valuable advice to businesses

Companies concerned about the rising threat of cyber-attacks on their business can attend a Cyber Security Seminar in Leicester, organised by accountants Newby Castleman, explaining how best to protect themselves.

The leading Leicestershire accountancy firm has organised this free event, which will take place at Winstanley House, off Hinckley Road, on Thursday 8th November at 10am.

I.T. security specialists will be at the event, discussing cyber security, answering questions and providing examples of how businesses can best prepare for potential cyber-attack.

Cyber threats to UK businesses are on the increase, with computer hacking, data breaches and online fraud a growing concern. It is estimated that more than a billion emails are sent each day attempting to seed malware, ransomware or some form of data theft. However, many companies underestimate the threat and are leaving themselves vulnerable to it.

Newby Castleman Partner John Griffin, who will attend the seminar, said,

“Companies can face serious consequences through cyber-crime, from inconvenience to data-theft and loss of finances. Most infamously, the shipping giant A.P. Moller-Maersk lost £232m last year following a malware attack, but smaller firms are also potential targets for cyber criminals.

“This free seminar, which will be hosted by ADL Consulting and Berkeley Insurance Group, will provide a valuable focus on this increasing problem, with an introduction to cyber-security, examples of what can go wrong and vital questions firms should be asking themselves, plus advice on how best to prepare, protect and insure against cyber-attacks.”

Also attending will be Andy Larkum (ADL Consulting) who has over 18 years’ experience in the IT industry, recently specialising in Cyber Security and GDPR, and John Pennick, Divisional Director and leader on Cyber insurance at Berkeley Insurance Group and Chairman of the British Insurance Brokers Association Cyber Focus group.
