SDL Group celebrates its 2000th tenant

Nottinghamshire-based property services company, SDL Group, celebrates letting their 2000th new-build home, working in partnership with Sigma Capital Group plc.

The Build-to-rent (BTR) scheme allows tenants to let newly built homes, specialising in well-equipped, newly built family homes under Sigma’s “Simple Life” brand – in contrast to the usual focus on city apartments in the Private Rental Sector (PRS). All the homes come with a fully-integrated kitchen, along with white goods and a high quality, contemporary specification throughout. The recently celebrated 2000th home is situated in Middleton, Greater Manchester, at the Baytree Lane development, which encompasses 110 homes of either two, three or four bedrooms.

Paul Staley, director of PRS at SDL Group, said:

“This is a tremendous achievement and testament to our aim to revolutionise the industry, continuing our journey of rapid growth, dedication to customer service and improving living standards for our tenants.   

“It is clear that the UK housing market is undergoing a significant restructuring, and from a demand perspective, renting is now a much more acceptable form of tenure than it was in previous generations.

“With up to a third of young people expected to live in private rented accommodation all their lives, it is vital that the PRS sector help to fill the vital gap within the current housing market, by providing high-quality homes of variable sizes.

“At SDL we are helping to cater for this demand, especially among families, and the success and growth achieved is just the beginning - there is so much more to come from the BTR sector.”

Following this recent achievement, the SDL Group are on track to meet their goal of managing 20 per cent of the UK’s new BTR stock by 2020, which would mean managing over 10,000 properties nationwide. This will be achieved by working in partnership with clients such as Sigma Capital, who share the SDL Group’s values and ambitions.
