Senior promotions announced at East Midlands solicitors

LEADING East Midlands-based law firm Nelsons has promoted two employees to partner.

Corporate lawyer Alice Rees and contentious trusts and probate specialist Lewis Addison joined Nelsons – which has offices in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby – in 2004 and 2008 respectively.

Alice, who specialises in mergers and acquisitions and company formations and reorganisations, has worked her way through the ranks to take on the new role after joining the law firm as a trainee solicitor.

She said:

“I am very proud to have been promoted to partner at Nelsons and feel this is recognition of my commitment and dedication over the past 14 years with the firm.

“Being able to support businesses from incorporation through to exit, including everything in between, means we have some very long-standing and loyal clients that we have worked with for many years. It is great to build relationships with them and see their companies grow and develop over time.

“The corporate law team is well-established and there is a lot of mutual trust among us. My priority going forward is to work with and support my fellow partners as we look to grow the department and it’s really exciting to be a part of that.”

Lewis qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has since developed his expertise in inheritance, trusts and property disputes. He is also accredited by the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists – an industry benchmark which signposts clients to professionals who have this specialism.

He said:

“Inheritance disputes have increased substantially over the past 10 years and I am incredibly excited to build the practice in this area.

“We provide a specialist service across the region, which helps as many people as possible solve challenging problems at pivotal moments in their lives. I am proud to be a part of such a strong team and look forward to helping it develop over the coming years.”

Chief executive at Nelsons, Stewart Vandermark, said:

“I am thrilled to have welcomed Alice and Lewis to the partnership, who each illustrate how with hard work and dedication our lawyers can build careers with us.

“Alice joined us as a trainee and Lewis moved to Nelsons shortly after he qualified so both have shown great loyalty over the years. They both have lots of new ideas to help grow and develop their departments and to help us deliver on the vision we have set out. Alice and Lewis thoroughly deserve their promotions.”
