Midlands architecture practice celebrates the big 50

Midlands architecture and construction consultancy YMD Boon is celebrating its 50th anniversary in business.

The firm, which works on high-profile schemes throughout the Midlands and nationally, recently celebrated the milestone with an event at the Fischer County Cricket Ground in Leicester, where more than 80 guests from the property and construction industry were treated to food and drinks as they watched the Leicester Foxes take on the Derbyshire Falcons.

Established in 1968, YMD Boon opened its first office in Market Harborough. Since then, the company has grown rapidly, opening offices in Derby, Nottingham and Lincoln to accommodate its growing staff and better serve its varied client base.

The firm’s specialist services include architecture, quantity surveying, building surveying, project management, employers agent, property management and maintenance, health and safety advisors and clerk of works.

The 34-strong team takes a holistic approach to integrated design and construction, delivering projects across a range of sectors, including the recent transformation a former Wesleyan Chapel into Nottingham Trent University’s new ceremonial hall in time for this year’s graduation ceremonies.

Director at YMD Boon, David Yates, said:

“It’s a pleasure to work with such a motivated and high-achieving team and it was fantastic to be able to put on an event for our colleagues, clients and friends to celebrate this significant milestone.

“Reaching 50 years in business wouldn’t be possible without the passion and drive of our committed team so myself and my fellow directors would like to thank them for their ongoing hard work and dedication. In addition, our wonderful clients give us the opportunity to do what we love, so thanks to them as well.

“Over the years, as well as delivering incredible projects, we have welcomed apprentices and young people into the team, volunteered for Derby City Council’s Enterprise 4 Education (E4E) scheme and supported Derby College’s Employment and Skills Academy (ESA), as well as supported various charities.

“We have many exciting projects in the pipeline and we look forward to what’s in store for the next 50 years.”

YMD Boon continues to recruit, looking for talented professionals from a range of disciplines to join its innovative team.
