Trio of school leavers enjoying a Society summer

A trio of school leavers are enjoying a productive summer working at Hinckley & Rugby Building Society.

Olivia Groom, Lewis Young and Oliver Haywood are all working as customer assistants in the Society’s branches after leaving Hinckley’s John Cleveland Sixth Form Centre.

Olivia, 19, who lives in Hinckley, is off in September to Manchester Metropolitan University to study human resource management.

Olivia said:

“Working at the Society has been so enjoyable and I've already learnt so much about the way the business works. My skills regarding finance and dealing with customers’ requests have grown hugely.”

After the summer Lewis, 18, who also lives in Hinckley, is heading to De Montfort University in Leicester to study psychology and criminology.

Lewis said:

“I already really enjoy working at Hinckley & Rugby. Everyone here gets along so well and it feels like one big family. I think I'm getting on well thanks to the great training I received and customer service staff helping me whenever I need it. I look forward to spending the rest of my summer working here.”

Oliver, 18, from Barwell, who is hoping to become a police officer, said:

“Being at Hinckley & Rugby is helping me to gain experience working with the public.”

Hinckley & Rugby chief executive Chris White said:

“It’s great that we could give these local young people an interesting summer of work, which will be useful experience for them as they head to university or to start a career. We’re enjoying having them with us.”
