VisionDrive changes gear in recruitment strategy

VisionDrive, which was recently ranked 32 in the top 100 national startups list, operates a professional transportation service of single vehicle deliveries across the UK.

Following a successful year of rapid growth, the company has decided to partner with the Armed Forces for their upcoming recruitment drive. More than 60 driver positions will need to be filled nationally.

Warrant Officer Nigel O’Leary from the 160 Lincoln Transport Squadron, based at the Sobraon Barracks in Lincoln, said:

“We met VisionDrive when the Army Engagement Group presented to local employers about recruitment opportunities. We thought VisionDrive was the perfect candidate for our Career Transition Partnership.

“This has allowed them to advertise their driver vacancies to those leaving the army and our reservists in Lincoln. We also put them in touch with our East Midlands-based Reserve Forces and Cadets Associations engagement team to get VisionDrive signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant. to enter the ‘Defence Employer Recognition Scheme’ which recognises and rewards UK employers for their support to Defence personnel.

“I am looking forward to working with VisionDrive and helping our reservists and service leavers to build pathways into civilian life, using the beneficial skill sets gained in the army.”

Director at VisionDrive Ian Smith said: “Recruiting professional drivers in the regions we are expanding into can prove difficult at times. We thought it would be prudent to turn to one of the most professional institutions in the country for a source of motivated, skilled individuals who are ready and able to work.

“We’re really looking forward to the partnership and what it might bring. It not only supports our country by offering army reservists and leavers a chance to develop a career outside of the army, but also provides our company with committed, professional personnel to represent our business.

“A professional and punctual service is what we’re all about and the Armed Forces deliver on these qualities in everything they do. The partnership also allows us access to recruitment opportunities all over the country.

“It is also important to us that each successful candidate completes training with VisionDrive to ensure our company standards are delivered. Those leaving the army and coming straight to us will perhaps find it a smoother transition to civilian life than they would ordinarily experience.”

The company has contracts with the likes of GEFCO, Pendragon, Soper Lincoln, and Pentagon; it also recently opened a Doncaster hub with further plans to open in Hull.
