Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

CPW helps inspire next generation of construction professionals

National M&E consultancy Couch Perry Wilkes (CPW) has strengthened its partnership with Nottingham Trent University (NTU) by opening its doors to one of the university’s rising stars for a year-long placement.

Jorden Damji joined the firm earlier this month after completing his second year of a BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology degree at NTU and will spend the next 12 months working closely with the team in the Leicester office as a BIM technologist, honing his skills as well as gaining the opportunity to work on live projects to build experience.

Speaking of the placement, Jorden said:

“I was really keen to join CPW as they have a strong reputation in the industry about their work with BIM and are one of the few consultancies regionally that are Passivhaus certified. I’m from Leicester so have seen first-hand what an amazing building the Centre for Medicine at the University of Leicester is and wanted to learn from the organisation that worked on that project.

“I’m really looking forward to embedding myself into the team, who have been really welcoming and supportive so far. I would like to take every opportunity that is available to me to learn and develop my skills to take back to my final year of studies and I think having the experience of working within an M&E environment will allow me to look at my work in architectural technology in a new light and long-term will make me more employable.”

Matt Wrate, director at Couch Perry Wilkes, said:

“Here at CPW we pride ourselves on mentoring the next generation of construction professionals and allowing our trainees to work on live projects under close supervision of our experienced team, as we believe this real-world experience is the best way to learn.

“Our team in Nottingham have developed a great working partnership with the Architecture, Design and the Built Environment department at NTU and really enjoy the opportunity to share their insight and knowledge to those aspiring for a career in the industry.

“Jorden has shown real enthusiasm in his short time with us and a commitment to learn, which is great to see, and we look forward to seeing his progression and development with us over the next 12 months.”
