Colour Splash hits the right tones at Prestwold Hall

Prestwold Hall saw an explosion of colourful fun as runners of all ages took part in the second annual Colour Splash at the Leicestershire stately home.

More than 170 people tackled the 5K run or walk, raising more than £800 for the Barrow & Wolds Church Group’s work with children and families.

Powdered paint created a rainbow of colour to run through after a warm-up led by Rosemary Conley and the official start by Gemma Steel, the Whitwick-based GB runner and a European cross-country champion.

Thanks to the stunning summer weather, the run took place in glorious sunshine. It was organised by the Barrow Runners club and again sponsored by Leicester chartered accountants Mark J Rees, whose staff and friends also participated.

Stewart Collier, partner at Mark J Rees, said:

“Taking part in the Colour Splash is incredible fun. A huge well done to everyone involved for putting it all together and a massive thank you to all who took part and raised funds for a great local cause.”

Colour Splash organiser Ian Paramore, from The Barrow & Wolds Church Group, said: “We were blessed with fantastic weather and with our hugely enthusiastic runners.

“It was truly uplifting to see young children, teenagers, parents and grandparents all having fun together in what is a unique setting for such an event. Prestwold Hall provided an amazing backdrop and the grounds were a delight to run around.

“Everyone who took part can be proud that they are helping make a valuable contribution to the local community.”
