Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

Warwickshire site manager Lawrence enjoys pride in the job success for the second time

David Wilson Homes East Midlands is praising its Warwickshire Site Manager Lawrence Ryan after his second triumph in the prestigious Pride in the Job awards, a national competition considered to be the “Oscars of the housebuilding industry”.

Lawrence (50) was awarded a Pride in the Job Quality award from the National House Building Council (NHBC). Such an accolade is the highest industry honour a Site Manager can achieve, recognising the best-run sites in the country.

Originally born in Kingston upon Thames, Lawrence moved to Nuneaton at the age of nine.

His first success in this widely respected competition came in 2015 for his work at Coton Park in Rugby.

Lawrence, who is now based at Poets Meadow in Heathcote, said:

“The first award was very special, but this one means a lot more as it was hard won.

“The news of the Pride in the Job recognition was welcomed with great emotion and pride. I am elated and still can’t stop smiling.

“My drive is to constantly strive to produce the best quality homes that both we and our clients can be proud of and this award is an independent confirmation that we are doing just that.”

He first worked for David Wilson East Midlands as a Subcontract Joiner sporadically for eight years, before becoming an Assistant Site Manager in September 2007. The first site he officially managed was in Desborough.

Lawrence added:

“I owe a lot to my site team at Poets Meadow, in particular my Assistant Site Manager Rob Ford, as well as my Trainee Site Managers Dennis Colman and Vincent Lucas. Their drive and dedication has made the difference.

“I’d also like to thank my long term Contracts Manager Ivan Towson and my Construction Director Darren Langton, whose constant encouragement and support has continued to motivate me.

“A great share of this success has to go to Pete Seditas, our Project Manager at the time, without whose guidance the task at hand would have been almost unachievable.”

Lawrence is one of nine Site Managers to win an award within the Leicestershire-based division.

In total this year, parent company Barratt Developments has won 83 awards, which is more than any other housebuilder. This is now the 14th year in a row where the developer has won more Pride in the Job awards than every other housebuilder, making it the clear industry leader in site management.

Each year, more than 16,000 Site Managers enter the competition and are judged against strict evaluation criteria, with just 450 individual winners then being chosen. Every winner has been rigorously assessed during the past twelve months across 37 areas, including their technical knowledge, quality controls, consistency, health and safety and customer service.

These awards closely follow David Wilson Homes East Midlands receiving five stars in the Home Builders Federation (HBF) survey for customer satisfaction for the ninth consecutive year.

John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“We would like to commend our Site Manager Lawrence on his latest accomplishment and thank him for his continued dedication to Poets Meadow.

“These awards demonstrate that our Site Managers are building some of the best quality homes in the country. Customers who buy a home on a Pride in the Job winning site are benefiting from a really high quality product.

“By once again winning more of these awards than any other housebuilder it shows the commitment we have made to excellence in construction and putting customers at the heart of everything we do.”

Poets Meadow, located on Harbury Lane, currently has a selection of three, four and five bedroom homes available to reserve with prices starting from £392,995.
