Rising star Rebecca receives award for top marks in Leicestershire and Northamptonshire

An exam qualified accountant from Barrow Upon Soar has received an award for achieving the highest accountancy exam marks in the local district.

Rebecca Chandler, of Leicestershire accountants Newby Castleman, won the Fleming Birch Prize, an annual prize awarded by the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire Society for Chartered Accountants, for coming first in the Annual Order of Merit for district students sitting the Professional Stage accountancy exams between March and December in 2017.

She was presented with the prize, which includes a cheque for £150, in front of colleagues at an evening event in Leicester. Rebecca, who studied at Kaplan in Nottingham, gained her Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) qualifications and became an exam qualified accountant earlier this year, and is currently working to become fully qualified.

Rebecca, 24, said:

“I was rather surprised to win the Fleming Birch Prize, and though I was confident about passing last year’s exams, I certainly wasn’t expecting to get the top mark in the district!”
