Gelder Group completes work on PING hotel at Gainsborough Golf Club

Construction firm, Gelder Group, was chosen by golf equipment manufacturer, PING, to build a hotel at Gainsborough Golf Club, in Lincolnshire, which has now reached completion.

The eight-bedroom, boutique hotel has been built as an extension to the existing clubhouse, where previously two large apartments occupied ground floor and first floor space.

The golf club, which has been owned by PING for more than 30 years, has two 18-hole courses and a large driving range, along with extensive clubhouse facilities, including a café, restaurant, business meeting rooms and a sports lounge. The club also offers PING experience days at PING’s European headquarters, which has been based in Gainsborough since 1973.

The 120 sq m hotel was constructed in a 10-week build programme and is now open to guests.

Dave Gladwin, construction director at Gelder Group, said:

“PING is a well-known and highly desirable brand and, with its roots firmly in Gainsborough, it’s fantastic they have further invested in Gainsborough Golf Club, to now provide guest accommodation facilities, enabling players and those attending events at the club the option of staying the night.

“Gelder Group is a very active member of Invest Gainsborough, an initiative to encourage investment and skills into the area, and PING’s ongoing investments and presence in the town helps to show other businesses that Gainsborough is a great place to live, work and invest in.

“We are really pleased to have completed the project at the golf club, which now offers superb guest accommodation, complimenting the excellent facilities they already have.”

John Clark, Managing Director of PING Europe, said:

“We are delighted to open the doors to guests at our newly developed guest accommodation at Gainsborough Golf Club, which will enhance the facilities and options available to those playing golf, or attending the many events and functions that we hold at the club.

“With limited options locally for boutique-style hotels, we also hope the rooms will become a popular choice for those travelling to, or through, the Gainsborough area and are looking for a first-class guest experience.

“It has been a pleasure working with the Gelder Group, who have worked exceptionally hard to deliver a stunning end result to this project.”

Lincolnshire-based Gelder Group is a multi-award-winning construction company with a strong commitment to training, particularly apprenticeships. The firm recently announced it was going to double its apprentice intake over the next three years.
