Hard work adds up to success for accounting apprentices

It all added up perfectly this week as accounting apprentices at West Nottinghamshire College celebrated achieving their apprenticeship qualifications.

More than twenty Level 2 and Level 3 apprentices together with their employers were invited to join tutors last Tuesday (19 June) at the college’s Refined fine dining restaurant for a celebratory meal and presentation.

The event was organised by BTEC Level 3 Business students Imogen Whitworth, Holly Kerry and Keira Allcock-Brocksopp, and was catered by the hospitality and catering students. Guests were treated to live music from the music performance students.

Each of the apprentices are now ready to pursue the next level of study, seeing Intermediate Level 2 students progress to Advanced Level 3 and the Advanced Level 3 students ready to study Professional Level 4.

Each apprentice is currently working within financial or accounting roles at companies which include Charles Yorke Limited, Custard Technical Services Limited, Rainbow International and Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Neil Wilkinson, head of compliance and systems at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“It’s a great way for the students to receive their certificates and be recognised for their achievements. It was obvious that lot of planning and effort went into it and we were very well looked after.”

Tutor Crystal Hawes said:

“As a former apprentice, I understand and value the amount of hard work that goes into achieving these qualifications; having to balance the apprenticeship, work and home life is no easy feat.

“It was the perfect venue to recognise and celebrate the success and achievement of our apprentices and we look forward to repeating the event next year for our current cohort of apprentices.”
