Nottingham stylist makes finals of national hairdressing competition

A stylist at KH Hair West Bridgford in Nottingham has earned a coveted place at the final of a national hairdressing competition.

The IT List, presented by leading hairdressing publication, Creative HEAD, aims to find the most talented, ambitious and creative UK hairdressers, aged 30 and under, who are storming the industry, turning heads and fast making their mark.

Demonstrating stand-out skills, original thinking and a strong determination to succeed, Jessica Neil (29) is one of five finalists in the category 'The Visionary' and she will join a star-spangled guest line-up for The It List Grand Final on Monday 3 September, taking place at iconic London landmark, the Natural History Museum and hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan.

Now in its ninth year, The It List, sponsored by ghd, is considered the coolest and most credible competition for young British hairdressers. The Visionary category recognises stylists who are constantly experimenting with new ideas and techniques, pushing themselves artistically and producing creative work they are proud of. If successful, Jessica will receive a prestigious It List trophy, an exclusive ghd workshop experience and 12 months of profile-projecting coverage in Creative HEAD in print and online.

"I'm absolutely over the moon." says Jessica.  There are so many career-boosting benefits to being named on The It List. Past winners have gone on to shoot with high-profile magazines, become ambassadors for global brands, launch successful salon businesses, lead backstage teams at London Fashion Week and get signed by top artist management agencies. It's such an exciting opportunity and I couldn't be happier."

The past few years have been hugely progressive and successful ones for Jessica.  She made it to the finals of the Fellowship of British Hairdressing's F.A.M.E Team 2018 and also the finals of the British Hairdressing Awards 2017. Previously, she won a place on the Fellowship's 2017 PROJECT X programme where she learned from some of the industry's best stylists and this April, was the creator of the KH Hair Awards 2018 chosen 'Image of the Year'.

KH Hair Group joint managing director, Darren Messias, added: "We're all thrilled for Jessica.  She works so hard, not only as a very busy style director in the salon but also as the director of the KH Hair Creative Team.  This recognition is thoroughly well-deserved and we wish her all the best for the final in September."
