Colour Splash back for another run at stately home

Runners of all ages can have colourful fun and run at a Leicestershire stately home on Wednesday July 11 when the second annual Colour Splash takes place at Prestwold Hall.

A full field of 300 runners took part in the first Colour Splash last summer, enjoying a great evening while raising more than £2,000 for the Barrow & Wolds Church Group’s work with children and families.

The debut event’s organisers from Barrow Runners were so pleased with its enthusiastic reception they are doing it all again this July.

Back for a second year to lead the warm up will be Rosemary Conley. Also returning is Whitwick-based GB runner Gemma Steel, a European cross-country champion.

And the Leicester accountants Mark J Rees are again sponsoring the whole Colour Splash and will be entering a team of staff, family and friends.

Hundreds of runners will throw their packs of powdered paint up in the air at the 7pm start, after a countdown by Rosemary. The event is suitable for adults and for children aged from five upwards.

People taking part can do 5K or a single 2.5K lap around the grounds of Prestwold Hall, which are not normally open to the public. And there will be a race village again, with plenty to keep other family members and spectators entertained.

Colour Splash organiser Ian Paramore said:

“We are thrilled that the Colour Splash is back again this year following the success of the 2017 first event. We hope lots of people sign up to come along and have some colourful fun with their families.

“Having the Colour Splash in the countryside is a different experience to similar events which are normally based in cities and town centres. It’s a great way to put the fun into fundraising for the incredible cause of our infant and children's ministry.”

Stewart Collier, partner at Mark J Rees, said:

“We had such a good time last summer and we’re very pleased to be supporting the Colour Splash again in 2018. It’s a great cause to support and a great evening to enjoy.”
