Award for profit growth at Lincolnshire business FreshLinc

Lincolnshire transport and logistics business FreshLinc Group has been given a top award in recognition of its profit growth.

At an event at Grantham’s Stoke Rochford Hall, members of the East Midlands team of business and financial advisers Grant Thornton UK LLP presented FreshLinc with the award that marks its number one position for profit growth on this year’s East Midlands Top 200 Report.

Not only has FreshLinc taken the number one position on the Report, the company has also risen 116 places in the 12-months since the 2017 Report, which is produced annually by Grant Thornton in partnership with the CBI.

A specialist in the total supply chain management of temperature controlled fresh, chilled and horticultural products, FreshLinc is a leading service provider to retailers, food manufacturers, growers and importers, operating throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Founded in the 1990s, FreshLinc today has its head office at Wardentree Park, Pinchbeck in Spalding, and regional offices in Worcestershire, West Yorkshire, Cambridgeshire, Kent and Westlands (Holland). It operates a fleet of more than 600 specialist refrigerated vehicles, employs more than 250 people nationwide, and has an annual turnover in excess of £75million.

Commenting on the award and FreshLinc’s number one spot on the Report, the company’s Operations Director Lee Juniper said:

“It is great for this achievement to be recognised in this way. We have had so many messages of congratulations from our suppliers and customers on our profit growth and success in the Report, and will continue with the same energy, passion and drive that have played a key role in our growth over the last few years.

“FreshLinc isn’t a company that ever sits still, and performance this year proves this, as we have already delivered 95% of our budgeted pipe line for the year, with more to come.

“We are proud of our business goals, which are communicated to every employee, resulting in a strong drive and willingness from our people to find opportunities for growth.”

Presenting the Award to FreshLinc were Tom Copson and Mark Pashley, Directors in Grant Thornton’s East Midlands office, who said:

“FreshLinc has consistently invested in technology, its people, culture and service, to create state of the art facilities and a fleet of modern vehicles, with a focus on delivering its specialist service with commitment and excellence. It has built a strong reputation for providing a cost-effective, highly efficient service that meets customers’ individual needs.

“FreshLinc’s growth in profits is significant and has taken it from 117th place in 2017 to rise to the top and take the number one position on this year’s Report – an impressive performance.”

Lee Juniper adds:

“Five years ago, our vision was clear: the majority of our business was focused solely on one customer, limited by their development, and we wanted to expand and grow. With the five divisional companies in mind, and an existing customer contact list in hand, we set about finding the people and sites we wanted to operate from. Today FreshLinc has five operating divisions including the traditional haulage business DirectLinc, and supply chain resourcing company Top Up Resources.”

Now in its sixth year, The East Midlands Top 200 Report is produced by Grant Thornton’s East Midlands office in partnership with the CBI. It provides the region’s only in-depth study into the East Midlands’ fastest growing companies by key sector and performance indicators, to deliver a barometer of overall economic performance, by analysis of the financial performance of the 200 businesses in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire that have delivered the greatest, sustained profit growth between 2014 and 2017.
