Local MP backing launch of a course designed to support Mansfield residents

Local MP, Ben Bradley is backing the launch of a short course designed to support Mansfield residents affected by changes to the benefits system from September 2018.

With over 30% of Mansfield residents leaving school with no qualifications, training provider CT Skills will be delivering the free 12 day IT & Employability course which has bespoke Universal Credit and budgeting units embedded.

As part of the changes to Universal Credit, it will be essential for claimants to have basic IT skills to complete their digital UC Journal, be able to manage their credit online, budget their finances and have a single form of photo ID.

Upon completion of the course Mansfield claimants will receive a free provisional driving license to meet photo ID criteria as well as Entry Level 3 IT User Qualification and Level 3 Foundation Learning for Employability Skills Qualification.

Mansfield Ben Bradley commented;

“I’ve met CT Skills to talk about the work they are doing on employability and digital skills, particularly supporting local people with the things they need to access Universal Credit when it comes to Mansfield in September. It’s great to see so much work being done to make this all go smoothly by so many organisations.”

The Universal Credit will replace six of the main means-tested benefits including; income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Housing Benefit (Rental).

The Information Day will take place on Tuesday 19th June at 10am at Mansfield Business Centre. Please contact CT Skills on 0115 9599 544 to secure your space.
