PCPM invests in Tesla to create green fleet

Commercial refrigeration and air conditioning specialist PCPM has invested in three Tesla Model S cars as it works towards making its fleet of company vehicles totally electric.

The Chesterfield-based firm has invested in the cars to replace a Mercedes, a BMW and a Renault, which were all run on diesel and harmful to the environment. The combined mileage of the three is around 60,000 business miles a year.

Each car is capable of travelling around 230 miles on a single charge and they can be charged at home on off-peak Economy 7, or for free on Tesla’s UK Supercharger network. The firm has had solar panels installed at its offices to charge them, as well as its own charging port.

PCPM was established in 2005, by Managing Director Peter Crown, and provides a range of commercial refrigeration and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions, including the design, supply and install of heating and cooling systems and commercial cold rooms.

Over the years, it has worked on more than 850 McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, and more than 230 Pizza Express outlets.

Peter Crown said:

“Here at PCPM, we are passionate about helping our clients to minimise their impact on the environment and investing in our own fleet of electric company vehicles is a clear demonstration that we practice what we preach.

“Not only do the new vehicles represent significant cost savings across the board, but these cars have a lower overall environmental impact than traditional fuel-powered vehicles.

“We believe that electric cars are the future of motoring and as a business, we’re pleased to be at the forefront of adopting this new technology.”
