PCPM expands projects team with key promotions and new appointment

Commercial refrigeration and air conditioning specialist PCPM is gearing up for a growth in business by promoting two key members of staff and appointing another.

The Chesterfield-based firm has made the moves to enable it to better accommodate a growth in both demand and new project contract wins.

Established in 2005, PCPM provides a range of commercial refrigeration and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions, including the design, supply and install of heating and cooling systems and commercial cold rooms.

Over the years, it has worked on more than 850 McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, and more than 230 Pizza Express outlets. It has seen turnover grow from £1.4m to £4.8m in the past four years and its employee headcount has grown from five to 11 since 2016.

Its Operations Manager, Ashley Arundel, has been promoted to Operations Director. Ashley has a Bachelor of Engineering from Leeds University and more than ten years of design and project management experience within the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration sectors.

He took a three-year hiatus from the HVAC world to work as a personal trainer, before returning to management in 2016, and is currently working towards Chartered Manager Status with the Chartered Management Institute.

His colleague Craig Smith has been promoted to the role of Senior Project Manager, where he will assume more responsibility within the air conditioning and ventilation side of the business as it gears up for growth.

Craig spent seven years in the Army as a communications operator, before leaving in 2007 to train as an air conditioning and ventilation engineer, using his qualifications to help PCPM become REFCOM-registered.

He has been involved in several air conditioning installs nationwide, including the management of the McDonald’s fit-out programme for the north of the UK.

Reporting into Craig as Project Manager is new recruit Chris Sharman, who has a a degree in Public Service Management from the University of Derby and has worked as a project manager on schemes for some of the biggest companies in the UK, including TNT and UPS.

PCPM’s Managing Director, Peter Crown, said:

“We’re delighted to be able to promote Ashley and Craig into new roles within the company and give them added responsibilities to reflect their work and contributions to PCPM, and to also welcome Chris to the team.

“Our decision to diversify into air conditioning and ventilation has led to bigger projects of higher value and this is a huge area of potential growth for the company.

“The changes we have made to the team, including promoting Ashley and Craig and recruiting Chris, will enable us to place more focus specifically on the air conditioning side of the business, to fully develop that growth potential.”
