George’s Hairdressing supports local football club

Salon chain George’s Hairdressing recently sponsored Leicestershire football club Oadby Owls, also known as The Snowy’s, by providing the kit and clothing for next season.

The salon also volunteered its staff to help on a match day, serving food and drinks for spectators, and even offered free pampering to the team’s mums.

By way of saying thanks to George’s Hairdressing for its support, The Snowy’s players then worked at George’s busy Allandale Road salon in Leicester, meeting and greeting clients, taking coats, putting on gowns and seating the clients in the salon as well as serving drinks to the clients. One client also offered to let one of The Snowy’s shampoo her hair.

George’s Hairdressing Salon Director Katie Katon said:

“Oadby Owls is a fantastic club and we could really tap into their ethos. It’s a real community at the club – everyone enjoys taking part and we thoroughly enjoyed having them in our Allandale Road salon. Not only was this a fun experience for everyone, but it was also a great way of raising awareness of the club and helping to collect further funds so the club can continue its work in the community.”

Here’s what Oadby Owls’ under 15’s league player Charlie Lewin had to say, “Helping out in the salon was great fun! It was a bit embarrassing to start with, but we soon got into the jobs we were given, all the clients were very generous and it’s a great thing for our club.”

Recognising the exhausting work that the ‘football mums’ of the Oadby Owls endure; driving across the city for training and fixtures, and standing by the pitch side in all weathers, George’s Hairdressing also invited the mothers of the team into the salon for a pamper session of hair and nails.

Run by unpaid volunteers, Oadby Owls relies on the support of sponsorship and its high volume of volunteers. Both of these have contributed significantly to the club’s success both on and off the field.

Competing in several divisions across Leicestershire, including in Sunday League Division One, the club also takes great pride in being a progressive Charter Standard Community Club, enabling boys and girls of all abilities to enjoy the experience of playing for a team and build their skills in a supportive environment. The club’s Saturday Academy provides a platform for children as young as four to develop their skills in a safe and friendly environment and is the gateway to joining one of the many mini-soccer teams across Leicestershire.

“The work that The Snowy’s do in and around the local area is simply amazing,” Katie added. “It’s amazing to see the platform that they give to young people looking to take their first steps into football, build their skills, and most of all, have fun! And for us at George’s Hairdressing, being a part of the community and supporting local organisations is something we’re incredibly proud of.”

George’s Hairdressing is excited to be supporting The Snowy’s and hopes for a successful season. Further information about Oadby Owls is available at and for more about George’s Hairdressing, visit:
